Charcoal or Gas Barbeques - choosing the best.
Friday, 5 Jul 2013 1:52 pm
We’ve got barbecues covered this summer at Oaktree. Stock up on everything you need from our range of barbecues and accessories, then try some new recipes ideas to impress your friends. Most importantly check out our garden furniture range to make sure everyone’s got somewhere to sit!

Here are five things to take into account when choosing your new barbie…

Authenticity
What BBQs are all about? The charcoal barbecue really brings out the primitive in you, starting the fire and keeping it going. Then there’s the atmosphere and the distinctive smell of burning coals. You can gather round the barbeque later in the evening to keep warm! Gas barbecues don’t really cut it here, some will say it defeats the object and when it comes to taste and that you may as well cook in the kitchen!

Cleaning
Cleaning the gas barbeque is easy to do, just a simple as cleaning any normal oven. Charcoal barbeques can be a little trickery to clean, however if you take the right steps of lining the coal barbecue it does make it much easier.

Cost
Cost is an interesting area when it comes to choosing a barbeque. Gas barbecues are cheaper to run than charcoal barbeques; however the charcoal barbeque is cheaper up front. You pay your money and take your choice!
         Therefore, it’s a draw!

Convenience
When it comes to convenience the gas heats up fast, so you can cook before the rain arrives (this is England!) It’s also slightly easier to keep the gas barbie running all day to cater for late guests. Many gas BBQ models also have side burners for cooking sauce and veg saving time and effort running in and out of the kitchen for accompaniments.

Fuel
Charcoal barbecues have the edge on fuel convenience. It’s usually easier to source charcoal than it is to source gas. It’s also easier to monitor how much charcoal you have left than it is gas making sure you don’t run out. You can also get small transportable charcoal models that you can take camping, for picnics in the park.
